Removing the transmission

1. Remove:

• Transmission case cover

TIP

Loosen each bolt 1/4 of a turn at a time, in stages and in a crisscross pattern. After all of the bolts are fully loosened, remove them.

Checking the transmission

1. Check:

1. Transmission gears

Blue discoloration/pitting/wear → Replace the defective gear(s).

• Transmission gear dogs

Cracks/damage/rounded edges → Replace the defective gear(s).

2. Check:

• Transmission gear engagement

(each pinion gear to its respective wheel gear)

Incorrect → Reassemble the transmission axle assemblies.

3. Check:

• Transmission gear movement

Rough movement → Replace the defective part(s).

Installing the transmission

1. Install:

• Oil seal "1"
• Oil seal "2"

Oil seal installed depth 0-0.5 mm (0-0.020 in)
